one sleeping baby + one making happy chatter upstairs = one happy mommy
seton has actually been sleeping in his bassinet. i know this seems like a ridiculous thing to be happy about, but it is a substantial victory for me. it means that i no longer have to replace 4 C batteries every week, and that means that i can save an extra $15--$20 a month. it also means that i can get the travel swing out of my bedroom and bring it downstairs where he will, i hope, begin taking naps in it during the day. rimmy may not have taken regular naps at this age, but he at least slept if i held him. seton doesn't even do that. if i don't hold him, he doesn't sleep, and with 2 babies that's a little hard on mom.
rimmy has been eating more lately. he still wants a fairly slim variety of foods, but i have been able to convince him to try them in different ways, i.e. french toast and english muffins with cream cheese instead of just white toast with butter. he even ate most of a meatball yesterday for dinner. i know, i know: it's amazing. someone should give me a fricken award. :)
i haven't folded a thing in weeks, so our laundry is all over the bedroom and living room. the bathroom is in sore need of cleaning, as were the dishes until last night. what, you may ask, prompted my washing them? was it an innate need to have clean plates and a clean counter? was it my amazing abilities as a homemaker and domestic goddess? no! of course not. it was my need to bake scones for ron to bring into work this morning. i needed a clean counter and a clean sink to do this, e.g. the bout of housework. i've finally figured it out: in order for me to clean, i must need to bake something. at least that works for the kitchen. what reward should i get for cleaning the bedroom i wonder?
and i've decided to become rich. seriously. i'm going to invent, develop, market, and sell an amazing, can't-live-without-it product for nursing mothers (such as myself). great plan, huh? :)
baby crying for no apparent reason and a great deal of gusto. end post.

hair cuts, wigs, and ewok capes
as halloween is fast approaching, i have begun to notice that there is simply not enough time. ron needs a haircut, i need a princess leia wig, and of course seton still needs a hood/cape for his ewok costume. somehow, regardless of the fact that tried my hardest to avoid having to make costumes this year, i have been sucked in to doing just that. why is this? is it because i love my husband and want to make him happy or is it just that i really was looking for an excuse to waste time making a costume, even if it's only part of one? i have my suspicions that the reason is the latter, but i'll blame ron anyway.
so, now i am faced with a dillemma: it is about a week and a half until all hallow's eve and i've no idea how to make an ewok cape. does one start with the placement of the ear holes or should one begin by making the basic shape of the hood and worry about the ears later? i have no idea, but i gather that's what i'll be busy doing this weekend.

sleepy time
why adventures in naptime? b/c, as a mother of 2 very adorable and very young boys, the only time i have on this thing is between the hours of 12 and 3 (if i'm lucky), during that blissful time of day known as the nap. it's an amazing thing. for 3 whole hours, the house becomes, not the bustling hub of childhood noise, but the silent, calm, vegged out den of adults. all stay-at-home moms understand what i mean. we love our kids, but we treassure our naptime addictions. for me, it's tv, c.s.lewis, and the comp. so, for three hours a day, i revert to the adult (read: college student) world of yesteryear and have my own adventures in naptime.
